| BANGKOK, THAILAND SEPT 2012 |
I spend 4 days in Bangkok, my last visit was 4 years ago, so this time felt like the first time. Now Bangkok has changed, with better transport facility, various big malls (typical big city), but still not clean and it caused flood which almost happen every time after heavy raining in Bangkok. One night I spend about 30 minutes riding tuktuk to conquered the traffic jam and flood after heavy raining in Bangkok. What an experience.
My first stop was Chatuchak weekend market. It is a must when you visit Bangkok, because it is the most famous market in Bangkok which only open on weekend. Imagine a HUGE market and almost anything you can find in this market, from house tools, street food to fashion items locally made by young Thai designers. Even now they have a special section for young fashion, maybe around 50 shops near each other, so it's easy to strolling around and believe me one day is not enough.
Still talking about Chatuchak, my point interest in Chatuchak other than fashion shops, is the Thai food stall. As a moslem sometimes it's hard to find a restaurant with halal signature on their shop. But in Chatuchak, there is the best halal Thai food stall right in the middle of the market, ask for the time tower for direction, the stall is right beside the tower. I love its original taste of Tom Yum Goong and fresh Thai ice tea are the most mouth watering menu in this stall.
Last but not least, other shopping heaven in Bangkok is Pratunam area. Lucky us, our hotel is just around the corner, so it was easy to go here by walking. My favorite is Platinum Mall. If you hunting for the trendiest clothing and accessories, this is the right place. In Jakarta maybe it similar like Mangga Dua, it's cheaper to buy in bulk or they called wholesale rather than buying only one piece. But my personal tips is always check your items before paying them and be careful with reject items, better be attentive to detail rather than regret it letter.
