Let's get the parade started!

I know it's a little bit late to review about New York Fashion Week Fall 2012, while now fashion people already sit and can't takes their eyes off from London Fashion Week Fall 2012 and waiting to be surprised by Mulberry or Vivienne Westwood. But I thought I still have to make this post, after finally update my new software photo editor (and yeah I finally found a way to use it) and have some time to write about my most favorite fancy week, the fashion week. Hmm..rather than review it one by one per designer (well..I thought Vogue and Style.com already reviewed it pretty awesome), I prefer to highlight the theme and 'same pattern' from all designers that would gonna be the 'it' fashion item and a long wish list for all covetous in the world.

Pattern Frenzy. I would like to start with pattern frenzy. Even it's fall collection, I spotted fun pattern with bright color and feels like summer breeze but of course with thicker and extra fabrics to cover body (it's Fall collection, remember?). The best way to rock the pattern is by mix it with another pattern, and J.Crew really knows how to do it on their Fall 2012 collection. I'm dying for their pattern knit wear, it reminds me of Christmas sweater. Pattern frenzy also spotted in Suno with its gorgeous flowery pattern pants, and talking about pattern pants, I believe we're gonna see more and more pattern pants in this year ahead. Also from the lovely Karen Walker, honestly I like all her creation in pattern making, feels young and fabulous, but that orange pattern combination is my favorite. Oh and I heard all front row-er got the fancy Karen Walker sunglasses on their goodie bag. Oh, YES! Sadly, I'm here and still dreaming to get one of those. Give me one pair of those, pleaseeee....

Red Ma(ca)roon! The other 'same pattern' I found is red/maroon everywhere, from pants, shirt, jacket to shoes. Now it more feels like fall collection with dark shade and red/maroon as the highlight. But I found Jason Wu Fall 2012 collection taking red/maroon more seriously and bringing red as the new black with red domination along their Fall 2012 collection, but furry arm jacket from their collection really stole my heart. While 3-1 Phillip Lim trying to make undiscovered red and pump up the runaway with its killer maroon heels. But the best color in red/maroon is in Rebecca Minkoff's pants, very vibrant and independent. I like it!

Overdozed. There's no Fall collection without knit, jacket or coat. But in this season, the more is the better. Almost all designers showed off with their oversized jacket and extra fur to make it bolder. What I really like the most is from Diane von Furstenberg, oversized grey knitwear from 3-1 Phillip Lim, long coat from Derek Lam and full furry coat from Michael Kors. The key to rock on this trend is using a belt to make your body still in shape or you're gonna look like the one who had just come out of the shower in winter season. Be careful.

The New Black and White. Spotted this famous yet 'save' color combination in some designer collection. Far from basic monochrome you ever imagine, the new black and white collaboration with extra black belt like Diane von Furstenberg does or being trendier than ever with the famous pointed collar like in Rebecca Minkoff's or Derek Lam's way are perfect for each other. My favorite is quirky hand prints on Diane von Furstenberg and detachable pointed collar from Derek Lam's collection. Superb!
Marc Jacobs Fall 2012
Marc Jacobs. When creation insanity made over money and a designer don't think much about profit, it called fashiongasm! and Marc Jacobs really knows how to have fun with his collection. I thought he should be honored to received best designer of this season. All those big fur hat parade, grandma look shawl, big brooches, and the pilgrim shoes with its square buckle are EPIC! I'm not gonna say I like his creation tho, but I'm impress with his courage and confidence by creating this show. Who had the courage to buy and wear it? Don't over think about it, just enjoy the runaway and have some fun.

Pattern Pants. I got some hints from last season collection about this trendy pants and it still famous among designer's collection. I guess it will gonna be long last for next couple of seasons. Simply way to wear it is pairing it with plain color (whatever it is) or if you have more courage, pair it with another pattern, like how J.Crew does it.

Clockwise: Karen walker Fall 2012, Manolo Blahnik for J.Crew, Prabal Gurung Fall 2012, Marc Jacobs Fall 2012, Calvin Klein Fall 2012, Derek Lam Fall 2012
Eye Candies. Keep your eyes on these items and I believe those gonna save you from outdated for the rest of the year. Especially with that Goldie jacket (or all sparkling items I supposed to say) from Karen Walker, pointed shoes collaboration Manolo Blahnik and J.Crew, blue eyes and electric blue outfit from Prabal Gurung, printed knit from J.Crew, the one and only Pilgrim shoes by Marc Jacobs, metal belt from Calvin Klein and pointed collar from Derek Lam.

Love, Citra!
